The University School of Technology (EUT): a project structure serving the IUTs and the University of Grenoble Alpes (UGA).
The EUT, a leading player in the creation ofUniversité Grenoble Alpes UGA)
The EUT is unique in the French university landscape. Collaborative work has existed between IUTs since the 2000s. The desire to work and build together has been forged over the years, leading to the creation of a regional association of IUTs in the Alpine region, bringing together the IUTs of Valence and Annecy (ARIUT). In 2018, the three IUTs of the UGA, IUT 1 and 2 in Grenoble and the IUT in Valence, joined forces by signing a joint COM.
Seizing the opportunity presented by the creation of the large UGA institution, the IUTs were ready to come together and form an academic component known as the EUT. The IUTs now have a representative on the UGA board of directors, on the same footing as the five other academic components. This representative works closely with the university presidency to prepare the deliberations of the UGA board of directors. A direct link is thus established between the life of the IUTs and the institutional projects of their university.
The three IUTs of the EUT have been structured and strengthened over the decades: each has a rich history and a unique culture.
IUT1 brings together industrial specialties and originated from Joseph Fourier University. IUT2 mainly covers tertiary specializations and also offers courses in data science and computer science. It originated from Pierre Mendès France University, as did the IUT in Valence, a spin-off of IUT2, which for several decades has played a central role in the Valence university cluster, one of the largest in France.
This historical context explains the systematic refusal to merge these three IUTs into a single structure, which would both undermine the identity of each of these communities and cause the EUT to lose its ability to carry out cross-disciplinary projects in the interests of the three IUTs.
Joint projects with high leverage effect
The EUT only makes sense because it adds value to the IUTs that comprise it. This added value is realized through the implementation of cross-disciplinary projects.
In particular, the EUT has already made it possible to:
DeployENEPS the BUT+ system for the benefit of the three IUTs,
Define and implement a CSR policy,
Developing shared ideas around common guidelines (CSR, Human Resources, and Training)
Develop the activities of the three Centers of Competence and Professions (CCM) by increasing staff numbers and creating a monitoring committee.
Structure and revitalize the activities of the Grenoble Business Club (development of kits and maps for each department)
The EUT is already working on:
Enable the study of cohorts of young people from high schools until they obtain their final diploma,
Create university degrees equivalent to bachelor's or master's degrees,
Facilitating self-reflection among high school students to help them better define their career plans.
The leitmotifs of the EUT
Promoting the region to young people: the departments of Isère, Drôme, and Ardèche are places with a bright future where it is possible to achieve your professional goals.
Promoting young people within the region: BUT graduates, whether they choose to continue their studies or enter the workforce, will have benefited from training that combines academic knowledge with practical application through at least one year of work-study, or even a period abroad.
Our commitment: one student, one GOAL, one job with a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or even doctorate!
