Guylaine GUERAUD-PINET (MMI) gave a 30-minute presentation on her research work at her laboratory, GRESEC (Research Group on Communication Issues). The topic: Analyzing audiovisual sound design: between industrial logic and standardization.
In this presentation, Guylaine GUERAUD-PINET showed us how the use of sound and music in the production of audiovisual content—television shows, YouTube videos, and content posted on social media—has evolved over the past nearly 70 years. Statistical studies, analyses of the “image-sound” relationship, and interviews with professionals shed light on the industrialization of sound professions in the visual media. Beyond this aspect, these studies highlight how sound shapes our emotions and captures our attention.
Clear and inspiring explanations that are easy to understand even for those who aren't experts in the field, and intended for both our students and staff.
