Working together to build a low-environmental-impact working environment

Studying and working in an environmentally friendly setting is beneficial in many ways.

In a context where every ton of greenhouse gas emissions or waste avoided, every liter of water saved, or every hectare of natural area preserved counts for the future of our planet, taking action at the scale of an institution such as EUT can yield significant results. Responding to these challenges also helps to preserve physical and mental health: improved air quality, healthy food, active mobility, etc. Finally, observing and adopting good practices as part of one's studies or work facilitates awareness and commitment.
As asset management is handled by the university's central services, the EUT's role is primarily to identify needs and projects and ensure that they are prioritized in strategic and management discussions with the UGA Presidency.

Conduct environmental assessments

Actions
  • Conduct greenhouse gas assessments for EUT sites
  • Assess mobility behaviors and available infrastructure
  • Monitor the rollout and adoption of waste sorting at all EUT sites and the waste prevention policy.
  • Diagnose the water network (leaks, optimization of usage, etc.)
Milestones and indicators
  • Number of BGES
  • Measuring mobility
  • Measurement of the selective sorting rate and total waste quantity

Design and evaluate the relevance of environmental projects

Actions
  • Renature and revegetate certain sites
  • Renovating buildings, installing thermal insulation, installing solar panels and heat pumps, managing heating by zone, etc.
  • Deploy and secure bike racks and electric vehicle charging stations
  • Digital: optimizing the use of IT equipment, increasing the purchase of refurbished and repairable equipment, internal reuse
Milestones and indicators
  • Number of buildings with low environmental impact
  • Non-artificialized surface area and contribution to green, blue, and black infrastructure networks
  • Modal shares of travel
  • Average useful life of computer equipment
  • Percentage of computer equipment reused

Facilitate the dissemination of best practices with central services and other components of the UGA.

Actions
  • Encourage EUT staff to participate in UGA CSR working groups
  • Promote and disseminate UGA initiatives (carpooling, computer repair, biodiversity observatory, etc.)
  • Raise staff awareness of sustainable public procurement (public contracts, reuse, second-hand equipment, etc.)
  • Propose a charter for eco-responsible events
Milestones and indicators
  • Number of personnel in working groups
  • Number of participants in training sessions and meetings for representatives
  • Number of people trained in sustainable public procurement
  • Drafting of the charter and number of events organized in accordance with it
